Charity Walk in Hanoi: Raising funds and awareness for vulnerable children and victims of human trafficking
Jenna Duong 10:10, 2024/10/30
By drawing a sizable crowd, the event seeks to aid underprivileged communities and children in Vietnam.

The Dragon Walk for Change event will be held on November 3 at Yen So Park in Hanoi.

The charity walk is co-organized by Blue Dragon Children's Foundation and Viet Running, with support from hospitality group The Ascott Limited and the Intrepid Foundation.

Blue Dragon Children's Foundation has provided care for children in crisis throughout Vietnam.

The Dragon Walk for Change invites over 1,500 participants, including embassies, NGOs, international schools, and corporations, to walk together in solidarity and empathy for the cause. With distances of 3km, 5km and 10km, this event is designed to support the life-changing work of the Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation, which to date has rescued 1,654 individuals from human trafficking and provided critical education and vocational training to over 6,400 children.

Ascott Limited's Regional General Manager for Vietnam, Cambodia & Myanmar says that through their involvement, they aim to support Blue Dragon's mission to transform lives and create sustainable opportunities for vulnerable children and families.

"By partnering with Blue Dragon for the Dragon Walk for Change, we can take meaningful action to support children in need and contribute to lasting change to improve their quality of life in so many ways," he said.

"We believe in the power of community and giving back, so this event is a perfect reflection of those values. Together, we can all make a real difference, one step at a time," he added.

Dragon Walk for Change has been held since 1989 to raise funds for the Blue Dragon Children's Foundation in Vietnam.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the activities of the Blue Dragon Children's Foundation, which rescues children from crises such as sex trafficking, forced labor and slavery, and then provides access to shelter, education and employment. More recently, Blue Dragon has been actively working to end human trafficking through a number of programs in Vietnam's most vulnerable communities.

The Dragon Walk For Change is a fundraising event initiated by the Intrepid Foundation, part of Intrepid Travel, which has operated in over 100 countries since 1989.

Intrepid's itineraries not only showcase breathtaking scenery, but also foster meaningful connections with local communities. For the past 15 years, Intrepid has supported Blue Dragon's mission for children. Since 2018, their social impact has grown significantly, with fundraising efforts increasing from $20,000 to nearly $250,000 by 2023.
