The Hanoi Customs Department on October 16 implemented a pilot application to electronically manage and supervise export and import goods at the Noi Bai International Airport.
Deputy General Director of Customs Nguyen Cong Binh said that this is the first time Vietnam has an automatic system connecting the customs authority with enterprises at the airport as well as with the management agencies in the area.
The pilot application is one of several new solutions to be implemented by the customs sector in order to apply modern methods in line with international practice in customs activities facilitating trade and import-export activities.
The application will help simplify and harmonize customs procedures with the procedures of warehousing, seaports and airports.

The application of information technology in exchanging and updating information with port and warehouse businesses will also contribute to closely monitoring the movement, location and status of cargo from arrival to departure subject to customs supervision.
The implementation will help shorten the time and cost for customs declarers while enhancing the management capacity of the customs sector and improving the compliance of enterprises, contributing to preventing trade fraud and smuggling.
It will be in line with the implementation of the one-stop-shop airline service.
All commercial documents via airline will be transferred by shipping companies to customs and other related agencies via the one-stop-shop mechanism.
After Hanoi, the application is scheduled to be implemented at other airports.
