BRT system officially put into operation

On December 31 morning, BRT route No.01 linking Yen Nghia - Kim Ma bus terminal has been officially put into operation.

The opening ceremony of BRT route saw the attendance of Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung Hanoi, Deputy Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Quoc Hung, Deputy Chairman in charge of the National Traffic Safety Committee Khuat Viet Hung and many delegates.

According to Decision No. 2885 / QD - SGTVT of Hanoi Department of Transportation, on January 1, 2017, the first BRT route linking Kim Ma - Yen Nghia bus terminals will be officially put into operation and start the development for the type of public passenger transport with large volumes in Hanoi.

BRT was one of three components of the project development of urban transport in Hanoi, a total investment of $ 53.6 million; is made from preferential loans of the World Bank (WB).

Kim Ma - Yen Nghia BRT route is not only the first line of Hanoi but also of the whole country; marking for the appearance of the type of public passenger transport with large volumes, significantly contributing to improve network capacity for public passenger transport in urban areas in general and the Capital in particular.

On behalf of the City's leaders, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Quoc Hung officially declared operation for BRT route. "BRT is an important solution to help address current traffic issues, enhance travel connectivity needs of the Capital's people," Mr. Hung said.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, leaders of the People's Committee, the Department of Transportation, Hanoi Transport Corporation was the first to depart from the No.1 Kim Ma. Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung Hanoi said: "The City resolutely comply initial objectives of the project , that is the maximum priority to the development of public passenger transport, especially transportation for public passenger with large volumes of BRT route."
