ASEANAPOL opens in Hanoi

Delegates will discuss different topics regarding drug trafficking, terrorism, arms smuggling, human trafficking, maritime fraud, commercial crime, cybercrime, and fraudulent travel documents
The 39th ASEAN Association of Chiefs of Police (ASEANAPOL) is taking place in Hanoi with a focus on information sharing and combating transnational crimes.

With the title "Honored by partnership, sustained by unity", the three-day event marks the participation of delegations from the Royal Brunei Police Force, Cambodian National Police, Indonesian National Police, Lao People’s Democratic Republic General Department of Police, Royal Malaysia Police, Myanmar Police Force, Philippine National Police, Singapore Police Force, Royal Thai Police, and the host agency, the Office of Investigation Police of Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security.

It will be also attended by observers and dialogue partner delegations from National Crime Agency of the United Kingdom, Australian Federal Police, National Police Agency of Japan, New Zealand Police, Ministry of Public Security of the People’s Republic of China, EUROPOL, Russia, Turkey, the National Police Agency of Republic of Korea, Fiji, and Timor Leste.

In addition, delegates are also from International Association of Chiefs of Police, International Committee of the Red Cross, United States Federal Bureau of Investigation, ASEAN Secretariat, and ICPO-INTERPOL.

Delegates will discuss topics on illicit drug trafficking, terrorism, arms smuggling, trafficking in persons, maritime fraud, commercial crime, cybercrime, fraudulent travel documents and transnational fraud.

ASEANAPOL database system, mutual assistance on criminal matters, exchange of personnel and training programs, and the ASEANAPOL Forensic Science Network are also important issues to be discussed at the event.
