ASEAN Food Festival serves up a feast in Cambodia
15:27, 2016/04/04
An ASEAN Food Festival in Phnom Penh got underway on April 1 with vendors in some 110 food pavilions serving up a smorgasbord of scrumptious delights from ASEAN countries for guests to come and try.
The festival held at the Olympic Stadium from 5:00 to 9:00 pm was a delightful evening, said Vietnam Ambassador to Cambodia Thach Du who attended accompanied by Cambodian Minister of Tourism Thong Khon.
The lawn was bordered with food pavilions from 10 ASEAN countries including Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, said Ambassador Du, and it was loaded with a diverse array of savoury treats.

The event was organised to familiarise guests with the diversity and colours of the rich ASEAN culture not only by presenting food delicacies but also through music and artistic performances, said Ambassador Du.
Ambassador Du said the food festival was followed by cultural performances.
The Vietnamese pavilions plated up some rather bold traditional dishes with strong flavours that went over well with guests, but it was a conical dance repertoire of pupils that played ‘my hometown Vietnam’ that was the highlight of the evening, receiving warm cheers all around.
