ASEAN countries' traditional costumes showcased in Hanoi
A show of ASEAN traditional costume and cultural arts took place in Hanoi on August 28.
The event, jointly held by the Hanoi Association of Friendship Organization (HAUFO) and Hanoi Department of Culture and Sport, was meant to celebrate the 51st year of ASEAN establishment and 23th year Vietnam joining the bloc.
Hundreds of participants attended the event including Vietnamese authorities’ representatives, ambassadors, diplomats, oversea students who are living in Hanoi.
Highlight of the event is the show of ASEAN countries’ traditional costume, along with 40 Vietnamese Ao dai printed with ASEAN countries’ landscape.
The songs and dances in the show also praised the beauty of ASEAN people, culture, contributing to the friendship, unity of Vietnam and Hanoi with other cities in the world.
Addressing the event, HAUFO President Nguyen Lan Huong thanked foreign representatives for their support given to Vietnam in the development and integration.

Huong also wished ASEAN to head toward a comprehensive cooperation in the time ahead, with the aim to level up the ties and connection to a new height in three pillars of security, economy and culture.
“With more than 50 years of development, we have gained great achievements in establishing the ASEAN Community, in which Vietnam is seen as a key factor to ensure the unity and consolidation of the bloc”, Huong noted.
