Ascott hosts second Somerset Charity Bazaar for Vietnamese underprivileged children
Approximately 700 enthusiastic visitors participated in the second Somerset Charity Bazaar held by the Ascott Limited (Ascott) on August 26 at Somerset Grand Hanoi and VND150 million to fund raised for 400 children at Yen Loc A Primary School.
CapitaLand’s wholly-owned serviced residence business unit, the Ascott Limited (Ascott) organized its second Somerset Charity Bazaar on August 26 at Somerset Grand Hanoi to help fund the needs of almost 400 children at Yen Loc A Primary School located in Y Yen, Nam Dinh city.
This corporate social responsibility is an annual activity as part of Ascott’s commitment to support the shelter, healthcare, and education needs of underprivileged children in Vietnam. The bazaar is also held in conjunction with the celebration of 51st Singapore’s Independence Anniversary.
The meaningful event drew approximately 700 enthusiastic visitors, and they were all treated to an afternoon full of entertainment and engaging activities.
Alongside selling various international and local brands and delicacies in about 50 booths, the bazaar also promotes unique merchandise such as handmade handicrafts produced by several associations supporting disabled communities.
The visitors also enjoyed the lucky draw and had fun watching the performances by renowned local artists like BB Academy and Entertainment as well as Ionah Show and Min, Vietnam’s young recording singer.
Somerset Charity Bazaar raised approximately VND150 million (US$7,500). All proceeds will be used to support the children’s needs and facilities improvement projects at Yen Loc A Primary School.
Ms. Lew Yen Ping, Ascott’s Country General Manager for Vietnam, proudly stated that this event embodies one of Ascott’s core values in giving back to the community and improving the lives of the underprivileged children in Vietnam.
She also encouraged all Ascott employees to play an active role in CSR activities, since it is the Company’s credo to be a responsible corporate citizen and to give back to the communities where Ascott operates.
In her opening speech, Ms. Lew expressed her gratefulness to all the partners who supported and enormously contributed to the success of the event, such as CapitaLand Vietnam, The Al Fresco’s Group, Paradise Group, Vpresso, Lutèce Wedding & Party Planner, Paris & France, and Tamaya Japanese Restaurant, among others.
In Vietnam, this business currently operates three properties in Hanoi – Somerset Grand Hanoi, Somerset Hoa Binh and Somerset West Lake, one property in Hai Phong – Somerset Central TD Hai Phong City, and five properties in Ho Chi Minh City – Somerset Chancellor Court, Somerset Ho Chi Minh City, Somerset Vista Ho Chi Minh City, Vista Residences and Diamond Island Luxury Residences. Other new serviced residences to be progressively completed include Ascott Waterfront Saigon and Citadines Bayfront Nha Trang, Citadines Regency Saigon, Citadines Central Binh Duong, Citadines Blue Cove Danang, Somerset West Point Hanoi, Somerset West Central Hanoi and Somerset Danang Bay.
