The host leader also appreciated Canada’s ODA provision for Viet Nam especially in climate change response. There are wide doors for the bilateral ties, said Deputy PM. He also suggested the two sides cement and deepen coordination at multi-lateral forums in favour of peace, stability, cooperation, and development.

For her part, Ambassador Ping Kitnikone affirmed that Canada wants to strengthen ties with the Asia-Pacific region and beef up ties with Viet Nam, and respects ASEAN’s role. According to the Ambassador, the robust development in the economic and trade ties forged a solid foundation and offered opportunities for the comprehensive ties between Viet Nam and Canada.

She was convinced that as the host of APEC 2017, the leading forum for regional cooperation and development, Viet Nam would enjoy abundant opportunities to boost the bilateral ties; spur regional economic connectivity.

Ambassador Ping Kitnikone underlined that Canada would do its utmost to back Viet Nam to successfully accomplish the mission of the APEC chair in 2017. Canada will support Vietnam in successfully organising the upcoming APEC event, Canadian Ambassador to Vietnam Ping Kitnikone has said.

The newly appointed diplomat made the statement that Vietnam hosting a key cooperation forum for the Asia-Pacific region would create new opportunities for both countries to form regional and bilateral partnerships toward effectiveness and sustainability.

Kitnikone said strong growth of socio-economic cooperation between Vietnam and Canada would help boost their comprehensive ties in the future. The revenue from two-way trade between the two countries grows between 20% and 25% on an annual basis, with the figure reaching nearly US$5 billion recently.

Agreeing with his guest, Minh said he was delighted with the progress the two countries have made together in trade and development cooperation. Hailing increasing Canadian funding, he said Vietnam was expecting additional support with climate change adaptation.

Minh noted that holding great collaborative potential, Vietnam and Canada should make efforts to elevate relations to a new height and work more closely at multilateral forums for international peace, stability and cooperation.
