All Vietnamese contestants win medals at International Biology Olympiad 2016
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam attended the closing ceremony of the International Biology Olympiad 2016 held in Hanoi on July 23.
The 27th International Biology Olympiad has wrapped up in Hanoi after a week with numerous activities.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said the contestants have a passion for science, the will to overcome challenges and the commitment to strive for a better future. The contestants are also the goodwill ambassadors for peace, friendship and future of the world.
At the event, the organising board presented 26 gold medals, 51 silvers and 74 bronzes.
At the 27th International Biology Olympiad, all four members of the Vietnamese team won medals, with the only gold went to Vu Thi Chinh from the High School for the Gifted of the National University of Hanoi. The other three brought home one silver and two bronzes.
The International Biology Olympiad 2016 kicked off in Hanoi on July 17, attracting 264 students and 238 teachers from 71 nations and territories.
The International Biology Olympiad (IBO) was first organised in 1990. Vietnam has attended the IBO since 1996. After 20 years of engagement, Vietnamese students brought home 56 medals, including one gold, 10 silvers, 45 bronzes and two certificates of merit.
