Agro-forestry-fishery export exceeds US$12 billion in 4 months

Vietnam`s agro - forestry - fishery export turnover in April accounted for US$3.2 billion, taking the total export turnover in the first 4 months to US$12.3 billion, up 11.9% year on year, according to the Ministry of Agricultural & Rural Development.
Specifically, export turnover of main agricultural products reached US$6.5 billion, increasing 11.9% year on year, while fishery export is estimated at US$2.4 billion, up 13% compared to previous year. Forestry export also posted positive news with US$2.7 billion, up 7.9% over the same period of last year.

Among those agricultural products, rice, cashew, and coffee have witnessed an increase in both export quantity and value. 
Rice export in the first four months reached 2.16 million tons for US$1.1 billion, increasing 21.7% in terms of quantity and 37.7% of value compared to the same period of last year. The average rice export price in the first quarter stood at US$501 per ton, up 15% compared year on year. 
Consequently, China continues to the Vietnam's largest rice importer from January to March with 29.1% of market share, reaching 411,600 tons for US$216.6 million, down 21.9% in terms of quantity and 11.3% in value year on year. 
Cashew also maintained a high growth in the first four months both in terms of export value and quantity, reaching 103,000 tons for US$1.04 billion, up 23.1% in quantity and 31.9% in value compared to the same period of last year. The US, China and Netherlands continue to be the top three largest cashew importers of Vietnam, accounting for market shares of 34.4%, 13.6% and 13.3%, respectively. 
Coffee export has been on the recovery track after a period of export turnover reduction. In April, coffee export reached 162,000 tons for US$307 million, taking total number of coffee export in 4 months at 691,000 tons for US$1.3 billion, up 18.1% in quantity and 0.4% in value year on year. 
Tee products, however, witnessed a slump in quantity and value. In the first four months, its export quantity is estimated at 34,000 tons for US$54 million, down 10.2% in quantity and 3.6% in value. Pakistan is Vietnam's largest tee exporter. In first quarter, tee export has been reduced by 28.6% in quantity and 18.9% in value. 
Rubber and peppercorn have experienced an increase in quantity but a decrease in export value. Specifically, the quantity of rubber export in 4 months reached 324,000 tons for US$476 million, up 7.6% in quantity and down 21.4% in value. 
The number of peppercorn export in four months is estimated at 88,000 tons worth US$311 million, up 15.5% in quantity but down 33.2% in value year on year. 
In addition to the growing export turnover, import turnover of agro, forestry and fishery accounted for US$2.57 billion in April, resulting in total turnover of US$9.5 billion in the first four months and up 11.7% year on year. Vietnam is reported to have import main agricultural products for US$7.38 billion, increasing 11.9% year on year.
