Hanoi Times - The healthcare sector across the country has implemented numerous measures to improve healthcare services to mark Physicians Day (February 27).

A ceremony to honor 30 outstanding young physicians in 2008 was held in Hanoi o­n February 25 in the present of State Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan and representatives from relevant ministries and departments.

Thirty physicians represent thousands of outstanding physicians across the country, who regularly provide health care checks-up to old people and pupils of ethnic minorities in mountainous areas.

At the ceremony, the Vietnam Youth Union called o­n young physicians to uphold glorious tradition of the healthcare sector in fulfilling their tasks, apply advanced technology in reality, volunteer to work in disadvantaged areas and provide free health care checks-up and medicines to poor people

The healthcare sector in northern Cao Bang province is focusing o­n the socialization of healthcare services, investing in improving infrastructure and equipment for hospitals, providing training courses for physicians at communal levels and improving the quality of preventive medical. The province aims to build 12 clinic centers, develop seven communes to reach national medical standards, reduce the malnutrition rate of children under five years old to fewer than 24.3 percent and give vaccinations to 95 percent of under o­ne-year-old children.

 

The central province of Quang Binh has upgraded its polyclinic to 500 beds and tried to provide all citizens with high-quality medical services. It plans to reduce the number of people suffering serious diseases and to timely stamp out epidemics.

The Department of Health in Central Highland Lam Dong province will coordinate with the provincial army headquarters and military zone command 7 to open training courses for communal medical staff. They will get first-hand knowledge of epidemics and community health in order to early detect and prevent the spread of diseases.
