Director of the Science, Technology and the Environment Department under the Ministry of Education and Training Ta Duc Thinh described the lack of next generation scientists as ‘worrying’.
Meanwhile, ‘modest’ is the word Director of Da Nang University Bui Van Ga used when talking about the staff of experienced scientists at the university, though the university has been developing its staff for over 35 years.
Deputy Director of Hanoi National University Vu Minh Giang also expressed concern about the lack of scientists, though Hanoi National University is one of the leading university and post-graduate training and scientific research centres in the country.
A big proportion of scientists at Hanoi National University are young people, including 1,743 people (66.7 percent) who have bachelor’s and master’s degrees. There are 153 research officers, including 136 (89 percent) who have bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
Meanwhile, Hanoi Economics University stated: “At this moment, we cannot say that in the next 10 years, the university will have scientists of international stature”.
