700,000 messages delivered to support AO victims
According to Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/dioxin in the past five years, the text-message campaign (via port 1400) to support the Agent Orange/dioxin-affected community has mobilised over 13 billion VND from 700,000 messages delivered.

The programme aims to mobilise the donations nationwide to help victims of Agent Orange/dioxin (AO) and support the next generation of those to seek employment.
This money has been allocated for localities across the country to construct homecare and care facilities for AO victims and directly provide financial supports for disadvantaged victims to improve living conditions.
In 2015, the Association received more than 1 billion VND from the programme.
Speaking at the texting campaign launch ceremony on February 25, President of the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/dioxin Nguyen Van Rinh said the building of the Association’s Centre for Social Protection, which was approved three years ago is scheduled to be completed in March.
The facility, sitting on 16.7 hectares in Yen Binh commune, Thach That district, Hanoi is expected to accommodate and care for AO victims from nearby provinces, he said.
President of the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/dioxin Nguyen Van Rinh called for all people nationwide to support the AO victims making text-message donations from now through to April 19.
By texting DACAM to 1409, an individual can donate 18,000 VND to the AO victims.
Numerous activities are scheduled to be organised in 2016 to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the use of Agent Orange/dioxin in Vietnam, which is also the national day for AO victims (August 10).
