According to the National Committee for Traffic Safety, on April 30 alone, 32 traffic accidents occurred nationwide, leaving 14 people dead and 20 wounded. Thirty-six traffic accidents on May 1 killed 22 people and injured 17 people.
Traffic police handled 23,677 cases of violations, contributing more than VND13.5 billion to the State Treasuries from penalty. Functional agencies temporarily seized 48 cars, 1,134 motorcycles and other six vehicles.
Prior to the vacation for five national holidays, the Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Public Security implement uniform solutions for ensuring traffic order and safety, meeting the needs of people’s travel. He also asked for the enhanced detection and handling of speculation, illegal fare increases, and violations of regulations on traffic safety such as reckless driving and using alcohol when driving.
