37 embassies in Vietnam attend the third Food festival
Service Department for Diplomatic Corps under the Foreign Ministry organised the third international food festival themed “the ASEAN community and international friends” in Hanoi on December 5. Mai Thi Hanh, spouse of State President Truong Tan Sang attended the event.
This year’s festival featured 96 booths serving culinary delights from the bloc’s ten member nations and different localities across Vietnam.
The event attracted the participation of 37 embassies, one Culture and Commerce center, 17 units of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representatives of the northern provinces, and some enterprises.
Addressing the festival, Nguyen Nguyet Nga, spouse of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, stated the event is a chance for regional countries to learn about each other’s gastronomy ahead of the formation of the ASEAN Community.
The festival also helps further the friendship and cooperation between ASEAN nations and international friends in the three pillars of the community, namely politics-security, economy and socio-culture, she added.
The event also took place a musical concert and a fashion show of ASEAN’s traditional costumes.
All proceeds were donated to the Association for the Support of Vietnamese Handicapped and Orphans and other charities.
The first and second festivals raised a total of nearly 400 million VND for charitable activities.
