24,000 Vietnamese students participate in world's largest Maths competition
IKMC 2019 in Vietnam achieved impressive figures with more than 24,000 candidates and 29 exam points across the country.
More than 24,000 Vietnamese students from 870 primary and secondary schools in 41 provinces and cities across the country participated in the International Kangaroo Mathematics Competition (IKMC 2019) on March 17.
Following the success of the previous exams, in 2019, IEG Education Development Fund organized the IKMC with the desire to keep creating a useful and interesting knowledge playground for students who love Maths.
IKMC 2019 in Vietnam achieved impressive figures with more than 24,000 candidates and 29 exam points across the country: Hanoi, Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Da Nang, Ba Ria Vung Tau, Ho Chi Minh City, among others.
According to the organizer, the exam was for students in grades from 1 to 8 nationwide with four levels. The competition is given in a test format in English, compiled by the Kangaroo International Maths Association.
Candidates will work in the form of bilingual English - Vietnamese to help students prepare good skills in foreign languages and familiarize themselves with the method of doing the same test at the national high school exam.
The IKMC was first held in France in 1991. Just a few years later, the exam spread to 20 countries and now to 70 countries and territories, becoming a mathematical competition with the world's largest student participation.
In 2016, IEG Education Development Fund partnered with the Education University (under Hanoi National University) to organize the first IKMC in Vietnam, attracting more than 6,000 candidates.
