This is the fourth annual festival organised by the People’s Committee of Quang Ninh province and Japan's Wanokai International Culture Association (WICA).
The festival's opening ceremony will take place in 30/10 Square, Ha Long city on March 18, indulging visitors in a sea of pale pink and white blooms brought by Japan.
The fesival will take place various activities including performance and art programmes by Vietnamese and Japanese artists; Japanese culture; and an exhibition of cherry blossoms and apricot flowers.
The golden apricot is a valuable, rare flower on Yen Tu Mountain in Uong Bi city. This year, the flowers are scheduled to have about 80 trees on display.
Beside 60 cherry blossom trees from Japan and some from northern mountainous provinces in Vietnam, the festival also features 160 stalls introducing tourism, culture and foods from Vietnam and Japan.
In addition, a conference promoting investment in tourism and trade, particularly the UNESCO-recognised World Natural Heritage of Ha Long Bay, will be also held.
The annual festival aims to boost cultural relations between Quang Ninh and Japan, which has brought in many businesses and encouraged cooperation between local people and tourists in Vietnam and Japan.
It will be a chance to introduce Japanese culture and flowers to Vietnam and promote the country's tourism development.
