13th Vietnamese Students' Day held in South Korea

On Nobember 19, the 13th Vietnamese Student Festival themed “Connecting the Community - Honoring Vietnamese Culture” was organized by the Vietnamese Student Association in South Korea (ASAK) at the University of Seoul in the capital of South Korea.

The event, drew the participation of over 1,000 overseas Vietnamese from all over South Korea, aimed to promote the traditional culture of Vietnam to the overseas Vietnamese community in the country and local people, as well as strengthen the cooperation and friendship between the two countries.
This is not only a helpful playground, which help strengthen exchange among branches of VSAC across South Korea, but also a bridge to connect the overseas Vietnamese student community, thereby promoting the image of talented, friendly and creative Vietnamese students to South Korea and international friends.
This festival includes art performances praising the beauty of the country and people of Vietnam, Vietnamese youth, folk games, Vietnamese food and screening a video about 10 years of development of the Vietnamese student community in South Korea.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the State Commission for Overseas Vietnamese Vu Hong Nam highly appreciated the initiatives and activities towards the homeland recently organized by VSAK, such as fund-raising to help local people affected by natural disasters, and supporting scientific research products of Vietnamese students in South Korea to relevant agencies in Vietnam.
Mr. Nam said that with such meaningful activities, VSAK has become a typical overseas student organization, positively contributing to the development of the Vietnamese community in South Korea in general and students’ movements in particular.
The Deputy Minister wished Vietnamese students in South Korea to promote the spirit of learning of the nation, gaining good results in their studies, seriously obeying regulations of their universities and the law of South Korea, building a united, dynamic and creative Vietnamese student community in South Korea.
Vietnamese Ambassador to South Korea Nguyen Vu Tu praised the efforts and achievements of Vietnamese students in South Korea and believed that they would become good intellectuals in both theory and practice, making great contributions to the cause of construction and protection of the country, as a bridge to help connect and further develop the relationship between Vietnam and South Korea.
From about 2,500 students in 2006, the Vietnamese student community in South Korea now has about 15,000 people and is expected to increase rapidly in the future.
