The latest nine Covid-19 cases are Russian experts, who are being quarantined in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, adjacent to Ho Chi Minh City right after their arrival. Russia is among five global coronavirus hotspots.

The others are Vietnamese citizens returning from overseas on repatriation flights.

Vietnam has experienced 93 days without local transmission.

So far, Vietnam has reported no single death caused by Covid-19, keeping it among few countries in the world that suffer no casualties from the global health crisis. In addition, 93.45% of total infected cases have recovered.

At present, roughly 13,000 people are under quarantine at concentrated facilities nationwide. Most of them are repatriated people and are taken to quarantine establishments upon arrival.

In comparison to other Southeast Asia, Vietnam’s infections are pretty low, compared to 83,130 in Indonesia, 63,001 in the Philippines, 47,453 in Singapore, 8,755 in Malaysia, and 3,239 in Thailand, statistics by Johns Hopkins University show.
