The performance of You Raise Me Up demanded profound expressions and vocal techniques to deliver the subtle and truthful emotions conveyed through the song, singer Nguyen The Viet told vnexpress.
The 22-year-old singer is the sophomore of Vietnam National Academy of Music’s Vocal Faculty. He is planning to launch his first musical production in March now that he has received the golden prize.
The aim of the annual Asian Arts Festival organized by Transinex Travel is to encourage young and old people between the ages of 6 to 80 from Asian cities to showcase their skills in all genres of performing arts (both ethnic and western). Performers are assessed based on a combination of factors by an international panel of adjudicators.
It provides a platform for intercultural performances, learning from others to improve levels of musicianship and a fun environment to nurture friendships between participants from Hong Kong, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Korea, China, Indonesia, and Vietnam.
Winning performers will be awarded certificates as well as Gold, Silver or Bronze trophies as reviewed by renowned adjudicators. Past festivals since 2013 were held at The University Cultural Centre, The Arts House, Jubilee Hall and Singapore Conference Hall.
Besides providing a wonderful platform for participants to perform, this festival also aims to provide an encouraging, fun, friendly and nurturing environment for varied Asians  At the festival, participants will be given the opportunity to showcase their skills and talents in all genres of performing arts, both Western and Ethnic. Participants of all ages  will get to interact and learn from one another to improve their musicianship, build and forge friendship.
This year’s event saw the participation of nearly 200 contestants who competed in different forms - instrumental, vocal and dance - and different categories - solo, duet, trio & quartet, small and large groups.
