Several activities will be held throughout the city to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - 2024).

The cultural activities aim to spread the meaning, stature, and great historical value of the Dien Bien Phu Victory.

The poster that won the First Prize in the Promotional Painting Contest was themed on the 70th Anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory.

The photo exhibition entitled "Dien Bien Phu Campaign - A Historic Decision" will be held from May 3 to 8 at the Exhibition House, N.45 Trang Tien Street.

The battle of Dien Bien Phu - the culmination of the confrontation of the First Indochina War- occurred between March 13 and May 7, 1954. It was the fight between French troops and Viet Minh communist revolutionaries. The 55 days and nights of fighting resulted in a victory for the Vietnamese resistance, forcing France to sign the Geneva Accords of 1954, ending the war in Indochina.

Meanwhile, the exhibition "From the 1954 Dien Bien Phu Victory To the 1972 Dien Bien Phu In The Air Battlefield" will run until May 19 at the B-52 Victory Museum in Ba Dinh District.

The exhibition is divided into three parts: "Dien Bien Phu Campaign 1954", "Hanoi - Dien Bien Phu In The Air 1972" and "Hanoi and Dien Bien Today", featuring more than 300 pictures, artifacts, and documents.

Nine arts programs will also be staged in downtown Hanoi from May 4 to 7, including the folk arts of Tuong, Cheo and Cai luong, water puppets, music shows, and circus performances.

Several outdoor stages will be set up for public art performances in Hanoi's rural districts, including Ba Vi, Thach That, Ba Vi, and Soc Son.

In addition to these cultural programs, Hanoi is also beautifying its streets for this important event. Many roads in Hanoi are brightly decorated with flags, flowers, and banners leading up to the anniversary. There are about 2,500 banners welcoming the Dien Bien Phu victory hanging on the main roads of central administrative areas such as the Hanoi People's Committee Headquarters, the District Party Committee Offices, and other historical tourist attractions such as the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the Vietnam History Museum, the Vietnam Military Museum, and others.

The Dien Bien Phu Victory is considered a brilliant golden milestone in the history of Vietnam, creating the foundation and conditions for the Vietnamese people to secure victory in the resistance war against the US, liberate the South, and reunify the country in 1975.
