There needs to have a stronger way to promote the message that Vietnam is no longer dangerous with Covid-19 and it is a safe destination.

Vietnamese enterprises, among them Vietnam Airlines, Thien Minh Group and Sun Group, and more than 80 representatives from agencies, travel companies, and partners, attended a seminar on promoting Vietnam’s aviation industry and tourism in South Korea with the theme “Rediscover Vietnam”.

At the event on June 9, the three Vietnamese enterprises introduced their products and targeted a wide range of South Korean customers. Meanwhile, potential partners had the opportunity to learn more about the services, thereby having more options to build programs for their customers.

Ryu Chang-ho, CEO of Hana Tour, South Korea's largest travel company, said that since fear of Covid-19 continues to prevail among South Koreans, Vietnamese companies should focus on providing information updates on pandemic safety and measures.

He added that such information should be widely communicated in the media and on tourist information sites, which would make it easier for travel companies to develop trips to Vietnam and advertise that they are safe for tourists. The CEO said that Vietnam is one of the favorite places of Koreans, of which the beaches of Danang, Nha Trang, and Ha Long are the places where South Koreans usually travel with their family.

In June, the company will also offer many attractive programs to Danang, Phu Quoc, and many other tourist destinations, along with international flight routes that will gradually recover in frequency.

Meanwhile, Jin Kyoung-wook from Mode Tour, said that in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic being controlled, Rediscover Vietnam is the first tourism promotion event in Vietnam that attracted the attendance of many South Korean airlines and travel agencies.

After more than two years, tourism activities were almost interrupted because of the pandemic, tourism promotion should be strengthened, he added. He underlined that since South Koreans are still afraid of the disease, more information about pandemic safety is needed.

“Currently, European tours are always full, but those in Southeast Asia have not recovered as expected, despite the existing advantages of geographical proximity and prices. Stronger communication is needed to spread the message that Vietnam is no longer a dangerous place due to the pandemic and is a safe destination,” he said.

Speaking at the event, the Vietnamese Ambassador to South Korea, Nguyen Vu Tung, affirmed that Vietnam is a convenient, safe, and attractive destination for international tourists after the country dropped all restrictions and entry conditions for foreign tourists. Visa, quarantine, and Covid-19 testing requirements have been removed for arrival from South Korea for stays of less than 15 days.

The Ambassador expected that with efforts to improve the quality of services and guides and build new tours, the number of South Korean tourists to Vietnam will recover to the level of before the pandemic, and Vietnamese arrivals to South Korea will also return to pre-Covid-19 levels in a short time.

The "Rediscover Vietnam" event is one of the few tourism launch activities in South Korea, as the country is in the process of completely eliminating requirements for epidemic prevention and reopening to international travelers. This is also part of a series of Vietnam Airlines events in South Korea.

From June 8 to 12, the Vietnamese air carrier Vietnam Airlines is organizing a roadshow for travel companies to explore markets and products in Danang City and the central province of Quang Nam, in order to facilitate the restoration of travel services. From June 23 to 26, the air carrier will participate in the KOTFA travel fair held in Seoul.

The company is operating four routes in the country including Seoul-Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City/Danang and Pusan-Hanoi. From July, the airline will reopen flights connecting Seoul-Nha Trang and Busan-Ho Chi Minh City.
