Under the government’s Resolution 180/NQ-CP, the assistance will include exemption of electricity bill for localities used for quarantine and checkup of suspected and confirmed Covid-19 people; and a reduction of 20% electricity bill for clinics providing checkup, test, and treatment of suspected people and Covid-19 patients.

The support, the second of its kind since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in early this year, will be applied for three months beginning October, the government said on its website on December 18.

Centers charging quarantine services will not be subject to the support.

For local customers whose consumption volume below 300 kWh/month, Vietnam Electricity (EVN) will cut 10% in the electricity bill between October and December.

In the first reduction, EVN applied the same rate 10% to local customers for bills in April-June.

The two reductions is estimated to cost the sole power distributor VND12 trillion (US$522 million), Tuoi Tre Newspaper reported.

Currently, the average household retail power price is VND1,864/kWh (8 US cent/kWh).
