Vietnam has been successful in containing Covid-19 and has benefited from fiscal measures supporting public investment and robust foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows.

During and after the pandemic, the digital economy should be at the center of economic policies for Vietnam in the post-pandemic period.

The government has set up an FDI task force to support multinationals and foreign businesses grasping investment opportunities in Vietnam.

FDI commitments to the country returned to positive trend by an expansion of 0.8% year-on-year to US$14 billion.

The formation of local supply chains remains core for Vietnam’s sustainable industrial sector in the future, said a local senior official.

The provincial authorities will focus on administrative reform and perfecting legal framework to ensure a transparent and fair business environment.

Current priorities should be attached to ensuring effective state budget collection and pushing for speedier disbursement of public investment funds, the city’s mayor has said.

Vietnam’s success in containing Covid-19 and applying Investment Law, which was passed in January 2021, are expected to further attract foreign investment.

Symbiosis is seen as an important link facilitating the cooperation between local and foreign direct investment firms in Vietnam.
