Hanoi will focus on developing new tours, especially to suburban areas.

This year, the Hanoi Travel Association will promote the development of tours connecting the central area and the outskirts, and strengthen cooperation among travel agencies to increase tourist arrivals to Hanoi.

These are the key points discussed at the Hanoi Travel Association Congress for 2024-2029 held on January 23.

Phung Quang Thang, Chairman of the Hanoi Travel Association, put forward two measures to develop tourism in Hanoi: strengthening cooperation between the association, the Hanoi Department of Tourism and local authorities to develop tourism in the outskirts of Hanoi, and focusing on sustainable green tourism.

Recently, such cooperation has resulted in the "Exploring the Nam Thang Long Heritage Path" with two routes connecting central Hanoi with suburban areas: downtown Hanoi - Thanh Tri - Thuong Tin - Phu Xuyen and downtown Hanoi - Thanh Oai - Ung Hoa - My Duc.

For his part, Le Hong Thai, Director of Hanoi Tourism Company, highlighted the new tourism products that are now well-known brands for Hanoi tourism.

These products include the Northwest Caravan programs during the flowering season, a caravan night tour between Hanoi and the northern province of Phu Tho, the "French Architecture in Hanoi" walking tour, and night tours with engaging activities at historical sites such as Hoa Lo Prison, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, and the Vietnam Literature Museum, as well as the Thang Long - Hanoi Night bicycle tour.

Speaking at the congress, Vu The Binh, Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association, acknowledged that despite the challenges facing the tourism industry, the Hanoi Travel Association has made remarkable contributions to the development of tourism in Hanoi.

He added that the products offered by Hanoi Travel Association members are all unique, making the goal of welcoming 24 million visitors to the city in 2023, including four million international tourists, achievable.

The Congress elected a new 13-member Executive Committee for the 2024-2029 term.

Le Thanh Thao, Director of Asia Sun Travel Company, was elected Chairman of the Hanoi Travel Association and Vu Giang Bien, Director of Vietnam Pattours Company, was elected Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the Association.

Looking ahead, Le Thanh Thao, director of Asia Sun Travel Company, said that in addition to improving the organization's structure, the association will focus on developing more products, especially those that focus on exploring suburban areas.

They will also promote outbound tourism to lay a foundation for the development of inbound travel, she said.
