“Zero dong” tours under close supervision

Quang Ninh asked the provincal’s Department of Tourism to deal with tourism enterprises commiting legal violations in providing “zero dong” tours for Chinese travellers, according to the provincial document.

On the first three months 2018, Quang Ninh province welcomed about 310.000 Chinese tourists via Mong Cai border gate, under “zero dong” tours.
Vietnamese tourism enterprises have to pay CNY30 to 200 (US$4,7 – 31,5) for Chinese partnership to served those tourists arrived Quang Ninh province, according to Tuoi Tre’s report.

On March, 2018, Deputy PM Pham Binh Minh gave approval for Quang Ninh People`s Committee to pilot the operation of Chinese tourist self-driving cars in Ha Long city (Quang Ninh).
The pilot duration shall expire on December 31, 2018. After the pilot duration, the Quang Ninh People's Committee shall summarize, evaluate and report to the Prime Minister. Deputy PM requests Quang Ninh People's Committee to ask for comments from concerned agencies and finalize the pilot scheme of Chinese tourist self-driving cars in Ha Long city.
Based on the summary of one-year operation of Chinese tourist self-driving cars in Mong Cai city, a total of 93 cars with 256 tourists from China crossed over to Mong Cai (Vietnam). In contrast, there were 38 cars with 110 guests from Vietnam to Dongxing (China). The above numbers have not met expectations, according to Quang Ninh People’s Committee.
