The virtual exhibition on legendary Vietnamese General Giap aims to honor his great contributions to the national liberation cause.

Thang Long - Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center will hold an online exhibition entitled “Vo Nguyen Giap - the Legendary General” on the occasion of the 110th birth anniversary of the historical figure (August 25, 1911- August 15, 2021).

The virtual exhibition will be on display at https://trungbayonline.hoangthanhthanglong.vn/ from August 22.

Visitors to the website of the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long from August 22 will have an opportunity to access the stock of the most authentic images and documents related to general Vo Nguyen Giap.

Visiting the virtual exhibition, visitors are introduced to 200 documents and photos that are divided into three themes including “Born to Serve the Vietnamese people”; “The Great Leader of the People’s Army of Vietnam”, and “The Legacy of General Vo Nguyen Giap”.

Notably, among the documents on display is a secret handwritten dispatch by General Giap on April 7, 1975, urging military units to advance vertiginously to liberate the south of Vietnam.

From 1968 to April 30, 1975 - the historical liberation day of the country, many important documents were discussed and meetings of the Politburo and the Central Military Commission. General Vo Nguyen Giap (second from right) and other members of the Central Military Commission at House D67

On display are also pictures of General Vo Nguyen Giap when he oversaw the liberation war at House D67,  the Headquarters of the General Command of the Vietnam People’s Army, between 1968-1975.

On December 18, 1974, a historical meeting was convened here to discuss the decisive plan to liberate the South and reunify the country.

General Vo Nguyen Giap (1911-2013) was one of the greatest military strategists of the 20th century. He was also among the outstanding disciples of President Ho Chi Minh.

The Politburo decided to rename the Saigon - Gia Dinh Campaign into the Ho Chi Minh Campaign, at the General Headquarters (House D67) on April 14, 1975.

Being the Defence Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam for nearly 44 years, General Giap was a crucial military commander in two wars: the anti-French resistance war between 1946–1954, and the anti-American War of 1955–1975. He was the architect of historically significant battles, the most prominent of which was Dien Bien Phu in 1954.

The General’s happiness was to be with the leader Ho Chi Minh, shared with him challenging and successful moments, and was led by him on the great battle of national liberation and independence to build a new society of peace, happiness, and freedom.
