Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh begins his two-day visit (20th -21st April) to the U.S. on Thursday
Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh begins his two-day visit (20th -21st April) to the U.S. on Thursday at the invitation of US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.This is the first visit by the Vietnam’s FM to U.S. under President Donald Trump’s administration.
The visit aims to confirm Hanoi’s consistent policy of Hanoi of highly valuing and and enhancing multi-faceted cooperation between Vietnam and the US.
Previously at the Meeting in Bonn, Germany on February 17, Minh and Tillerson agreed that the two nations’ comprehensive partnership has advanced positively and substantially in all aspects. Vietnam attaches importance to reinforcing the friendshind comprehensive cooperation with the U.S. on the basis of respect for each other’s political regime. Both officials agreed to continually exchange delegations and maintain high-level contact. The Deputy PM repeated Vietnamese leaders’ invitation to US President Donald Trump to attend the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting and dialogues with businesses in Da Nang in November. He also took this occasion to invite Mr. Tillerson to visit Vietnam in the near future.
Last December, President Trump spoke to Prime Minister Phuc by phone and expressed his wish to cooperate with Vietnam to accelerate the relationship between the two countries.. In February, a letter from U.S. President Donald Trump was sent to Vietnamese counterpart Tran Dai Quang saying he was interested in promoting bilateral cooperation.
