The Vietnamese Students’ Association has been recently set up in Europe to gather Vietnamese youths and students from 11 nations including Belgium, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Poland, Hungary, Rumania, Spain, Italia and Finland.

The congress to launch the association was held both online and at the Embassy of Vietnam in Brussels, Belgium, with support from the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and Vietnam’s representative agencies in Europe.

Deputy Foreign Minister and head of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Pham Quang Hieu sent a congratulatory letter to the newly-established association, stating that the launching of the association was of great importance.

Hieu expressed his belief that the association will sustainably link young Vietnamese and those of Vietnamese origin in Europe, as well as carry out practical activities to support their fatherland.

Overseas Vietnamese youth is playing an increasingly important role in the growth and protection of Vietnam, contributing actively to the development of localities and enhancing the relations between Vietnam and other countries, the deputy foreign minister stressed.

The congress elected a provisional executive committee with 24 members, who were presidents and vice-presidents of different Vietnamese student associations, led by the President of the Vietnamese Student Association in Czech Republic Nguyen Thi Dieu Linh.

On behalf of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, Dieu Linh lauded the contributions of Vietnamese students’ associations across European nations over the past time.

She expressed her hope that the new association will provide a common environment for Vietnamese youth in Europe to develop and mobilize their intellectual resources in contribution to Vietnam’s growth and relations with European countries.

Dieu Linh underlined the association’s care for the Vietnamese youth in Europe, adding that the association will connect and form a network to help young Vietnamese to integrate into European society and job seeking, contributing to nurturing Vietnamese intellectuals in Europe.
