Vietnam wishes to receive more Danish ODA in climate change adaptation
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung received outgoing Danish Ambassador to Vietnam John Nielsen on June 18.
Hailing concrete contributions of the Danish Ambassador to boost the Vietnam-Denmark relations in the recent years, the PM asserted that Vietnam attaches importance to the relationship with Denmark and will do its utmost to upgrade the relations more effectively, bringing benefits for both the countries.
Vietnam and Denmark should work together for stronger trade, economic and investment partnership, raise two-way trade to a higher level and join hands in coping with climate change, he proposed.
The Vietnamese Government always creates favourable conditions for businesses of both sides to exchange information and seek cooperation opportunities, he added.
The PM noted that Vietnam has signed and negotiated for free trade agreements with a number of partners, including the European Union, which is a good condition for the expansion of investment cooperation between Vietnam and Demark as well as other partners.
PM Dung also thanked Denmark for providing a high amount of official development assistance (ODA) of 1 billion USD for Vietnam, revealing that the assistance has been well managed and effectively used for development goals.
Vietnam wishes to receive more ODA from Denmark in climate change adaptation, he said.
The PM also expressed his hope for tighter education-training, cultural, sports and tourism cooperation, as well as more support for the Vietnamese community in Denmark.
On his part,
Ambassador Nielsen confirmed that Denmark will continue to provide more ODA for Vietnam, helping the nation enhance capacity in dealing with climate change.
Denmark will also pay more attention to strengthening cultural exchange and people-to-people contact with Vietnam, contributing to raise mutual trust and understanding between the two countries.
