Vietnam to spend 1.3 bln USD developing tourism infrastructure
The Vietnamese government has approved a target program on developing tourism infrastructure till 2020, with investment of over 30,664 billion Vietnamese dong (1.3 billion U.S. dollars).
Under the program, the state money will be used to fund projects on constructing or upgrading main roads to regional tourism centers and places of interest as well as building waste treatment systems in tourist attractions, according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism on Monday.
The state money will also be used to assist the implementation of public-private partnership projects in the tourism sector.
If projects need bigger funds, the total investment for the target program can increase to 35,000 billion Vietnamese dong (over 1.5 billion U.S. dollars).
In the first 10 months of this year, Vietnam received nearly 10.5 million foreign visitors, up 28.1 percent on-year, with the highest growth of 53.9 percent in the number of tourists from South Korea, followed by China (up 45.6 percent), and Russia (up 38.3 percent), said the administration under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Vietnam plans to host 13 million international arrivals this year, up from more than 10 million ones last year.
