Vietnam to concentrate on investing for 9 key border gate economic zones
The Prime Minister has agreed to spend development investments sourced from the State budget for nine border gate economic zones in the 2016-2020 period.
Accordingly, these border gate economic zones include: Mong Cai (Quang Ninh province), Dong Dang (Lang Son), Lao Cai (Lao Cai province), Cao Bang (Cao Bang province), Cau Treo, Cha Lo and Lao Bao in the central provinces of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh and Quang Tri; Moc Bai (Tay Ninh province) and An Giang in the southern province An Giang.
The Prime Minister (PM) asked that 70 percent of the total budget allocated for border gate economic zones annually and 2016-2020 plans should be focused on these nine border gate economic zones.
The Government leader assigned the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) in coordination with the Ministry of Finance to build annual and five-year plans on allocating the budget to the border gate economic zones as regulated with priorities on urgent projects.
The MPI was assigned to supervise the use of investment capital from the state budget during 2016-2020 for the selected key border gate economic zones, and report any problems that may arise to the PM.
The PM also requested provinces and centrally-governed cities to give investment priority to selected key border gate economic zones and use budget effectively as regulated. He called on localities to seek other resources for infrastructure projects.
Earlier, 8 key coastal economic zones have been chosen by the PM to give investments for development with funding from the state budget from 2016-2020.
