Vietnam sends more officers to the UN peacekeeping mission
The officers received the President`s decision on their new mission today.
Seven officers from the Vietnam Peacekeeping Centre will be sent to the United Nations (UN) peacekeeping mission in the Central African Republic and South Sudan in 2018.
Deputy Defence Minister, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh gave the President’s decision to the officers at a ceremony in Hanoi on May 21.
Accordingly, two military observers sent to South Sudan including Lieutenat.colonel Vu Van Hiep and Major Ly Thanh Tam, while four staff officers and one military observer to the Central African Republic are Lieut. Col Bui Thanh Van, Captain Bui Xuan Duong, Capt. Dao Duy, First lieut. Vu Manh Thang, Major Nguyen Duy Quang, respectively.
Sen. Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh, told the officers to stick to the Party and State’s diplomatic policies, military rules and regulations of the UN and law of the countries where they serve as well as to ensure safety while taking the mission. The officers are also assigned with the task of working with the UN mission to support the deployment of Vietnam’s level-2 field hospital in South Sudan in late June this year.
The Deputy Denfce Minister asked the Vietnam Peacekeeping Centre to assist the officers in carrying out their missions as well as take good care of their family members.
The centre needs to continue selecting and training of capable and virtuous officers to work for the UN peacekeeping mission in the following years, Vinh said.
