Vietnam requires Taiwan to terminate sovereignty violation
By Anh Kiet 11:59, 2016/01/29
Foreign Ministry spokesman Le Hai Binh made the statement in Hanoi on January 28 in reply to reporters’ questions on Taiwanese leader Ma Ying-jeou`s visit to Ba Binh island which belongs to the Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Le Hai Binh has reiterated Vietnam has sufficient legal and historical evidence to assert Vietnam’s indisputable sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos.

"Ma’s visit, regardless of the concerns of Vietnam and the international community, is a serious violation of Vietnamese sovereignty and runs counter to Taiwan’s recent announcement that it wants to contribute to the preservation of peace and stability in the East Sea.

Vietnam resolutely opposes the visit and asks Taiwan to stop violating Vietnam’s sovereignty and not to repeat similar acts which could raise tensions in the East Sea."
