Vietnam receives the first Japanese-funded ship

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development officially received HAYATO ship, one of three ships from the Japanese Government as part of its non-refundable aid for Vietnam to ensure maritime safety in Hai Phong city on August 5.
All three ships in the aid package worth 500 million JPY (4 million USD) are scheduled to be handed over to Vietnam within this year by the Japan International Cooperation System (JICS). 
 
The HAYATO ship is 56.13 metres in length and 9 metres wide with a gross tonnage of 1,079 tonnes.

After the ship is equipped with tools and devices for operations of the Vietnam Fisheries Surveillance Force, it will be used to patrol, control and enforce fishery-related laws at sea. 
Addressing the event, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Vu Van Tam expressed his profound gratitude to the Japanese Government and JICS, confirming that the ship will be used for the purposes committed between the two governments.
