Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc told this to Qatari PM Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al-Thani during their meeting on December 14.
Phuc appreciated the Qatari Government’s support for Vietnam in organizing “Vietnam Days in Qatar” which he, said, will help reinforce the relationship between the two nations.
The Deputy PM affirmed the nation’s recognition of high importance to boosting all-around cooperation with Qatar, saying the two-way trade volume reached nearly US$265 million in 2013, up 8% from a year earlier.
He also proposed a score of relation promotion measures, extended PM Nguyen Tan Dung’s invitation to visit Vietnam to the Qatari PM and deemed regular delegation exchange at all levels a key factor in consolidating political ties.
“Qatar-invested projects will be carried out soon in Vietnam and the two countries need to offer mutual support at multilateral forums for mutual benefit.” Phuc told his guest.
Phuc also asked the Qatari PM to facilitate his nation’ investments in hotel and tourism in Vietnam and simplification of visa procedures to encourage more Vietnamese tourists to visit Qatar.
PM Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, in turn, said he would direct ministries and agencies to realize agreements with Vietnam. He also accepted the invitation of PM Dung, adding he will visit Vietnam at an appropriate time.
Earlier, Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc held talks with his Qatari counterpart Ahmed Bin Abdullah Bin Zaid Al-Mahmoud during which, the two PMs reviewed the significant achievements in bilateral relations, discussed specific measures to foster multifaceted affiliation and agreed to enhance senior delegation exchanges.
The Qatari Deputy PM said he hopes to welcome State President Truong Tan Sang’s Qatar visit soon and consider Qatar’s support for Vietnam’s bid to run for membership at the UN organizations in the future.
Both sides affirmed their determination to elevate two-way trade value to US$1 billion in the time ahead, effectively implement finance-banking agreements and facilitate investments in projects on infrastructure, energy and agriculture as well as backing their businesses in seeking cooperation and investment opportunities.
Deputy PM Phuc also suggested Qatar receive more Vietnamese guest workers in the coming time.
On the occasion, the leaders witnessed the signing of documents on justice cooperation between the two Ministries of Justice.
