Vietnam ranked fourth at ASEAN Para Games 2015

The closing ceremony of the eighth ASEAN Para Games was held at the Marina Bay Sands area in the evening of December 9.
At the ceremony, Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced to close the eighth ASEAN Para Games. The flag of the Para Games was awarded to Malaysia - the host of next Para Games.

At the 8th ASEAN Para Games, Vietnam ranked fourth after all competitions concluded on December 9.
The last gold medal for the country was gained by Vo Van Tung in the men’s F33/34 shot put event, contributing to the country’s total tally of 48 gold, 58 silver and 50 bronze medals. 
Vietnam was behind Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia in the medal standings while host Singapore reached the fifth place with 24 golds. 
Vu The Phiet, head of the Vietnamese delegation to the Games, said Vietnamese athletes competed successfully at this year’s games. Notably, they won 19 gold, 22 silver and 21 bronze medals in swimming. Ten out of the 11 participating Vietnamese lifters pocketed medals, including 6 golds. 
Vietnamese athletes broke 16 Games records and two Asian records at the six-day biennial Para Games this year.
