Vietnam puts into water the most advanced coast guard ship
Song Thu Corporation (a shipbuilding firm under the management of the Ministry of Defense) held a ceremony to launch the Coast guard vessel 8005 in the central city of Da Nang on November 30.
The event were attended by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and representatives of Netherlands' Damen Group.
Coast guard vessel 8005 is the second multi-purpose ship of the DN2000 line, which was built by Song Thu Corporation based on a design by Dutch engineers, meeting all the international standards.
The ship, which has a displacement of up to 2,400 metric tons, can operate in the open sea for 40 consecutive days within a range of 5,000 nautical miles and survive gusts blowing at 118-133km per hour.
Seaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc emphasized that Coast guard vessel 8005 is one of the most advanced coast guard ships in Southeast Asia.
The vessel will be assigned to the Vietnam Coast Guard to conduct sea patrols, search and rescue missions and transport personnel and support for defense forces on Vietnamese islands, according to coast guard officials.
Vessel 8005 was put into the water six months ahead of schedule, which is set to put into operation in early April 2016.
