Vietnam promotes tourism in Indonesia by roadshow
The event is in line with Vietnam`s strategy on tourism development until 2020, vision to 2030 and following the success of the 2017 Tourism Roadshow in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.
The Vietnamese nation, people and tourist attractions, as well as investment and trade opportunities in the country were introduced during a conference in Bandung (Indonesia), held by The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the Vietnamese Embassy in Indonesia on September 26.
The event was among the series of tourism promotion activities from September 23 to 29, aiming to introduce and promote Vietnam's best destinations to Southeast Asia countries, especially focused on potential markets, such as the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia. More than 100 delegates from Indonesian travel and business enterprises attended the event.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Director General of VNAT Ngo Hoai Chung said that the roadshow program is the best chance to introduce Vietnamese tourism products to Indonesians and promote the image of Vietnam to attract more Indonesian visitors.
In addition, the event is a good opportunity for Vietnamese tourist enterprises and those from Indonesia to meet directly, thus enhancing their cooperation in the field.
In 2017, VNAT held a roadshow in Jakarta with theme “Graceful Vietnam”. Accordingly, the roadshow provided Indonesia’s travel agencies with information about Vietnam’s tourism, including attractive destinations like Phong Nha-Ke Bang cave and Son Doong cave in central Quang Binh province, Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex - a UNESCO-recognized World Heritage Site - in northern Ninh Binh province, Sapa town in Lao Cai province and Ban Gioc waterfall in Cao Bang province in the north.
The event also highlighted Vietnam’s heritage recognized by UNESCO, including 10 tangible heritages and 10 intangible heritages, as well as the country’s diverse cuisine.
The number of Indonesian tourists to Vietnam in 2017 was estimated at 81,000, up 16% year-on-year, according to VNAT.
