Vietnam pledges to create best conditions for UK investors
While meeting UK Secretary of State for International Trade Liam Fox in Hanoi on February 23, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc pledged that Vietnam will create the most favourable conditions for UK businesses and investors to operate in Vietnam.

During the reception, the PM expressed his hope that the trade, investment, and defence-security cooperation between Vietnam and the UK will be developing strongly following the visit by Secretary of State for International Trade Liam Fox.
He hoped that the UK will continue supporting Vietnam to train high-quality human resources and teach English, and facilitate Vietnamese students’ study there.
PM Phuc urged the UK to help speed up the official enactment of the EU-Vietnam free trade agreement, and suggesting both studying a new trade pact suitable to post-Brexit situation.
The Government leader said Vietnamese enterprises want to promote partnerships with their UK partners, who have strong capacity, experiences and technologies.
The PM pledged that Vietnam will create best conditions for UK businesses and investors during their operation in Vietnam.
He also proposed the two countries strive on strengthening their cooperation for a goal of doubling the current two-way trade of over 5.6 billion USD by 2020.
PM hailed the effective operation of the British Council in Vietnam.
He said he expected the UK Government will make it easier for more than 70,000 Vietnamese who are living and studying in the country.
He also expressed his pleasure to witness the increasing number of UK tourists to Vietnam.
For his part, Secretary Liam Fox highlighted the cooperation between Vietnam and the UK in various fields, including corruption prevention and fighting, administrative reform.
Liam Fox reiterated that the UK, after Brexit, still wants to boost economic cooperation with other nations by enhancing its investment overseas and ensuring free trade.
He stressed cooperation potential for the two nations, especially in commercial airplane purchase, education and training, and national defence and security.
The two countries should strengthen their strategic partnership in other fields, he added.
He said that the UK vowed to support Vietnam’s socio-economic development, thus making a contribution to the UK’s prosperity.
The Secretary expressed his hope that the two Governments will continnues to cooperate closely in the coming time, in which the Vietnam – UK Joint Committee on Economic and Trade Cooperation is the tool to boost bilateral investment and trade exchanges.
