As a part of activities to celebrate the 55th founding anniversary of ASEAN, the ASEAN Film Week aims to foster the connection of regional countries in terms of people, diplomatic relations and culture, contributing to the construction of a peaceful, stable, and dynamic community.
In Hanoi, the motion pictures will be shown at the National Cinema Centre. In Danang and Ho Chi Minh City, screenings will take place at Le Do Cinema, and at CineStar complex, District 1, respectively.
The tickets will be distributed for free at cinemas.
According to the organizers, the ASEAN film week this year will introduce special works from ASEAN countries. These films show the cultural, natural, and human beauty of these countries.
Taking place in the context of the new normal when the Covid-19 pandemic subsides, participants in the film festival are still required to fully comply with regulations on pandemic prevention.
The last ASEAN Film Week 2020 held in Vietnam took place in July, showing nine works from nine Southeast Asian countries, including eight feature films and one cartoon. It was kicked off with the Vietnamese motion picture directed by Pham Huynh Dong and titled “The Happiness of a Mother”, the winner of the Golden Kite Award 2019 for a feature movie, the annual prestigious film award of the Vietnam Cinema Association.
During the previous ASEAN Film Weeks, Vietnam sent a number of typical contemporary cinematic works that capture the hearts of international audiences, namely Yen’s Life by Dinh Tuan Vu (2015), Yellow Flowers On Green Grass by Victor Vu (2015) and Furie (Hai Phuong) by Ngo Thanh Van (2019), among others.
