In a meeting with Senior Vice President of Google Kent Walker on November 11, Hue pointed to a highly potential market and adaptive capability of Vietnam’s young population as decisive factors.

Kent Walker said Google is considering procedures to set up a representative office in Vietnam on the basis of compatibility between local and international laws.

Throughout a series of meeting with small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Vietnam, Walker said he is impressed with the high level of technology application, as well as Vietnam’s target of training 1 million IT engineers of international standards.

Walker also highly regarded the government’s approach in creating a favorable investment environment and facilitating multilateral cooperation.

The deputy PM valued Google’s significant contribution to Vietnam’s socio-economic development over the past few years, adding that Google’s initiative of supporting Vietnam in digital economy development is essential for Vietnam’s goal of having 1 million operational enterprises by 2020.

According to Hue, information and technology should be Vietnam’s growth engine, which would lay the foundation for the country’s further development.

Hue expected Google to continue supporting Vietnam’s innovation ecosystem, at the same time to commit a long-term and successful business in Vietnam.

Regarding the implementation of the cybersecurity law in Vietnam, Hue stressed Google’s important role in cooperating with the Ministry of Information and Communications and other government agencies in ensuring cyber security.
