Vietnam among world’s top fastest emerging aviation markets
According to ACI World, by 2022, emerging markets will operate 50.1% of passenger traffic, with 5.4 million passengers passing through the emerging market territory, and for the first time in history surpassing advanced markets and dominating the industry.
Airport Council International (ACI), a non-profit organization representing the world's airports, has just named Vietnam the number one market on its 10 fastest emerging aviation markets.
Vietnam is expected to see an increase of 7.8%, which can be accounted for in the thriving tourism industry, Vietnam is a prime spot for many travellers. As the demand for electrics refuses to diminish, Vietnam will continue with its growth, with its largest industry being electronics, ACI said.
On the list, Vietnam is followed by India, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, China, Phillippines, Indonesia, Colombia, Mexico, Malaysia.
Vietnam welcomed 1.58 million foreign visitors in Ferbuary, a year-on-year increase of 5.8%, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).
Arrivals by road and air in the reviewed period recorded on-year increases of 27.2% and 7.6%, respectively.
In 2018, Vietnam welcomed 15.5 million visitors, a 19.9% increase from 2017, statistics of the tourism authority VNAT showed.
Vietnam aims to receive about 18 million foreign visitors and 85 million domestic ones in 2019, and earn more than VND700 trillion (US$30.2 billion) from tourism, according to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
