Vietnam - a safe destination for international travelers

According to the ABC of Australia, Vietnam is a tourist destination existing not only safety but also danger and visitors need to actively protect themselves. Deputy General Director of Tourism Department Ngo Hoai Chung confirmed: "According to our assessment, Vietnam remains to be a safe, friendly, attractive destination to worldwide tourists.”
After the unfortunate accidents occurred, experts said that Vietnam should soon establish Tourism Police force. Mr. Ngo Hoai Chung stressed that this issue has been mentioned several times and raised in Directive No. 18 of the Prime Minister. Accordingly, the Prime Minister has instructed the localities that are key tourist destinations and have attracted over 1 million tourists per year to establish supporting centers for tourists, set up hotline and build a mechanism for receiving and handling timely tourists’ feedbacks.

Mr. Chung also said that Ho Chi Minh City now has developed volunteer youth force with 2 great teams, consisting of approximately 250 members that have been trained foreign language, martial arts. After 7 years, they have directly handled many cases of theft, robbery, catching more criminals. Therefore, the General Tourism Department fully support and should soon establish tourist police force in a number of localities that attracts many tourists but have complex geographical areas such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang. However, in the moment, the Tourism Department proposes that localities should strengthen accountability for police forces to support visitors at key locations as tourist destinations in the province to ensure safe and friendly travelling environment to tourists.

At the mean time, Tourism Department will study and propose to build a system for receiving feedbacks from travellers like TripAdvisor’s model. Thereby, all information, especially about security warnings, safety, handling the violations of tour operators in tourist attractions, the tourism business establishments will be published on the Interne.

We believe that the practical solutions of the General Department of Tourism will help Vietnam’s smokeless industry to maintain a safe and friendly travel environment, and increasingly attracted worldwide tourists.
