According to the QS World University Rankings 2024, Vietnam National University-Hanoi (VNU-HN) is ranked among the world's top 1,000 universities, and Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) is ranked in the 1201-1400 category.

This is the sixth time in a row that VNU-HN has entered the QS World University Rankings of 1000, being placed in the 951-1000 band.

In addition, Duy Tan University in Danang is ranked 514th, Ton Duc Thang University in Ho Chi Minh City is in the 721-730 group, and VNU-HCMC is also positioned in the 951-1000 group.

In Southeast Asia, Malaysia leads with 28 ranked universities, followed by Indonesia (26), Thailand (13), Vietnam and the Philippines with five each.

The QS World University Rankings 2024 features a total of 1,499 of the world’s most prestigious universities from 104 countries and territories, based on a methodology that assesses each institution on six metrics, including its reputation among academics and employers, faculty/student ratio, citations per faculty, international faculty ratio and international student ratio.

This is the 20th year that QS has published this ranking.

QS is a British company specializing in overseas education. The organization's ranking criteria emphasize the contributions and impact of higher education institutions on society and scientific research.

The outstanding achievements of Vietnamese students in the international arena have helped raise the profile of domestic higher education, observers say, adding that higher education in Vietnam has gained greater fame on the global academic map.
