This is the first time VNU-Hanoi has been listed in the world's THE Impact Rankings and highly valued for its development activities, becoming one of the top two educational institutions in Vietnam in this ranking.

Meanwhile, Ton Duc Thang University in Ho Chi Minh City has been listed in the group of 401-600.

This is the third year THE Impact Rankings released the ranking following the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, which call for global action to building a peaceful, fair and prosperous society.

VNU-Hanoi has achieved seven of the 17 SDGs, including: Cooperation to realize development goals, Good Health and Life, Gender equality, Qualified education, Sustainable economic growth and employment, Reducing inequality, Peace, Equity, and Strong Institutions.

Topping the rankings of THE Impact Rankings 2021 is the University of Manchester (the UK), followed by the three universities in Australia (University of Sydney, RMIT, and La Trobe University). Russia is the most-represented nation in the table with 75 institutions, followed by Japan with 73.

THE has been providing trusted performance data on universities for students and their families, university academics, university leaders, governments and industry, since 2004. It is one of the world's most reputable and influential independent education rankings, alongside that of QS and Shanghai Jiaotong University (China).

THE rates universities around the world based on the core mission of a university and uses standard metrics to enable comprehensive and fair comparisons.
