Hanoi Department of Culture and Information is expected to organize the Hanoi Dragon Dance Festival 2020 on October 3 at Ly Thai To Monument Statue in Dinh Tien Hoang Street in the city centre. The event is one of the cultural activities under the direction of the city’s Party Committee and the People's Committee to celebrate the 1010th anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi and the Congress of the municipal Party committee.

The festival is an opportunity for artists and actors of selected traditional teams of dragon dance from districts and wards across the city to meet and exchange, including 13 districts of Ba Dinh, Hoang Mai, Tay Ho, Hoan Kiem, Long Bien, Cau Giay, Nam Tu Liem, Phuc Tho, Dong Anh, Thuong Tin, Thanh Tri, Dan Phuong and Thanh Oai.
Each dance would last 5-7 minutes. The teams can use one or more than one dragons in combination with other kinds of four sacred Asian animals together with dragon, including unicorn (mythical hooved chimerical creature), turtle, and phoenix along with music and narration during the performance todeliver specific themes and messages.
The dragon dance recreates glorious traditional events of the nation, honouring the country, people, and the capital city with a rich culture throughout its 1010 years of history and a city of peace, on the way of integration and development.
The Hanoi Dragon Dance Festival 2020 is a special cultural event, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere in the cultural and spiritual life of the people of the capital and contributing to the city’s socio-economic development. In addition, it also helps introduce and promote the art of dragon dance, a unique art form of the folk culture and one of the capital’s beauties to a large number of local people as well as international friends.
