Ten Korean travel agencies to survey Vietnam’s tourism market

Ten major travel agencies of the Republic of Korea (RoK) will make fact-finding trips to Vietnam from October 25 to October 30 to survey the local tourism market, the Vietnam Administration of Tourism (VNAT) announced.
Specifically, 16 members representing 10 agencies, including Hana Tour, Mode Tour, Very Good Tour and Redeap Tour, will attend the trips.
Industry insiders expected that the visit of the major Korean travel agencies to survey Vietnam's tourism will contribute to enhancing tourism cooperation between the two countries, attracting more Korean tourists to Vietnam and vice-versa.
The delegation of the Korean travel enterprises will experience, survey and use typical tourist services in Vietnam’s key tourist destinations, such as Hanoi, Da Lat, Nha Trang and Ho Chi Minh City.
The Korean travel agencies will experience some island tourism products in Nha Trang on October 27.
The Korean travel agencies will experience some island tourism products in Nha Trang on October 27.
As scheduled, the delegation will visit Nha Trang on October 27 and stay there a day to experience some island tourism products, take a hot mineral mud bath, visit sightseeing spots and enjoy the local food.
Recently, Vietjet Air also held a meeting with tourism businesses in Nha Trang to introduce its new return route from Cam Ranh to RoK’s Incheon. The route is due to open in early December with a frequency of five flights per week.
Together with China and Japan, RoK has been one of the three major international markets for Vietnam in recent years. Of the 9.45 million international tourists visiting Vietnam in the first nine months of this year, the number of visitors from the Korean market reported the highest rise of 51 per cent year on year.
To boost Korean visitors to Vietnam, 15 Vietnamese travel agencies in June also took part in the 32nd Korea World Travel Fair (KOTFA) in Seoul, which attracted a large number of visitors.
Minister of Sport, Culture and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien has recently also required VNAT to focus on promoting and attracting visitors from strategic and near markets, including RoK, to help the country’s tourism sector meet the target of receiving at least 13 million foreign tourists in 2017.
Dinh Ngoc Duc, head of the VNAT’s Tourism Market Department, said he expects the number of Korean arrivals in Vietnam will grow 40 percent this year, which equals 2 million visitors in total.
He added he believes the volume will continue to increase thanks to growing bilateral ties, favorable air routes and Vietnam’s visa waiver policy for RoK nationals.
In 2016, Vietnam welcomes 10 million foreigners, up 26 percent year on year. Of the sum, 1.55 million were from the Republic of Koreans, representing an annual increase of 37.8 percent.
