The event, co-organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST), the Ninh Binh Province People’s Committee and the World Tourism Organization, attracted more than 300 delegates from international organizations, national tourism agencies and other nations and territories from all over the world.
The spiritual tourism, a kind of cultural tourism, aims to satisfy people's needs for a fulfilling spiritual life, said Deputy Minister of MCST Ho Anh Tuan.
Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan said the event is meaningful in the context that the diversity and difference of religions have been respected and increasingly present at global agendas.
She stated the need to develop spiritual tourism sustainably by enhancing close cooperation and support between nations and their tourism sectors.
Viet Nam always creates favorable conditions for international cooperation in tourism and other economic sectors to join in promoting tourism in general and spiritual tourism, in particular, Mrs. Doan emphasized.
At the conference, delegates discussed meanings of spiritual tourism, exchanges of responsible culture and tourism, the strengthening of interaction between people through spiritual tourism, destinations dedicated to sustainable spiritual tourism and spiritual tourism products.
The event highlighted the importance of spiritual tourism with huge potentials, especially in the Asia Pacific, including Viet Nam.
