'Spice Girls of classical music' to perform in Hanoi
Ngo Minh 22:00, 2024/09/28
The world-famous string quartet BOND will provide the audience with a night of top-notch music and all ticket sales will be donated to people affected by Typhoon Yagi.

World-famous quartet BOND will have a performance on October 5 in Hanoi as part of the international music project for the community Good Morning Vietnam organized by Nhan Dan Newspaper in collaboration with IB Group Vietnam.

The four members of the group recorded a clip to send greetings to Vietnam, making the audience excited to look forward to the group's appearance.

“Hello! We are BOND. Come see us perform at the National Convention Center in Hanoi on October 5. See you there. Love you. Bye!” The group excitedly shared in the clip.

BOND's music is listened to so much that people no longer consider instrumental music a difficult art form. The freshness, captivating performance, and energetic music of the BOND girls have won the audience’s applause.

From electronic string instruments with eye-catching designs to beautiful appearances and attractive fashion styles, BOND has conquered millions of audiences around the world. The group's music products attract a huge number of views. Hits like Shine and Victory have become popular nationwide. The debut album Born, recorded in 2000 and released in early 2001, quickly sold more than one million copies worldwide.

In Vietnam, these melodies are commonly used in weddings, program themes, and formal ceremonies, although many people may not know that the composer of these melodies is BOND.

When the group first formed, BOND was dubbed the “Spice Girls of classical music.” They then won over audiences by mixing different music genres and performing with electronic instruments to create unique music.

Member Eos once shared that BOND never thought of themselves as classical musicians and always looked for global stories to incorporate into their work. For Gay-Yee, she feels happy that one of BOND's successes is inspiring many students, students, and teachers to learn stringed instruments.

BOND rarely tours abroad. Therefore, the upcoming show in Hanoi is a rare event, making fans eagerly look forward to it.

Director Pham Hoang Nam expressed his joy when BOND came to Vietnam, especially when they would perform at a musical event that aimed to ease the pain of people affected by natural disasters.

"In my time, BOND was a very special phenomenon. When classical music followed the old path, young people gradually listened to less classical music. Then BOND appeared like a breath of fresh air. They have come up with a very modern, vibrant, and sexy way of playing music. It is classical music that is not only enjoyable to listen to but also impressive to look at, so we have to say that we are crazy about BOND,” said director Pham Hoang Nam.

Pianist Tuan Nam is also eagerly waiting to see BOND perform.

“String quartets often perform in the auditoriums of classical music programs. BOND is the first group to perform this genre with a classical style mixed with electronic pop. They are pioneers in bringing this classical crossover genre to the world,” said artist Tuan Nam.

He added that the event is very meaningful not only for music lovers but also for Vietnamese people in general because the Organizing Committee has invited famous bands and artists from around the world to bring top-notch music to the Vietnamese public and at the same time promote the image of Vietnam to the world.

At this time, the program organizers are rushing to complete the production organization because artists like BOND always have their own standards for music.

Nguyen Thuy Duong, Chairman of IB Group Vietnam, Production Director of the program BOND Live in Vietnam said that the organizing committee spent more than a year preparing. Inviting artists began in 2023, right after saxophone legend Kenny G agreed to participate in Good Morning Vietnam 2023: Kenny Live in Vietnam.

"BOND is a quartet that plays classical instruments but performs on an electronic background, so the musical requirements are different from Kenny G. We use equipment in Vietnam along with the instruments and technical systems that the band brings over. We fully meet all requirements for international standard music quality," said Duong.
